How Google’s Pixel 4 Beats Galaxy S10, Note 10 with One Feature
Among the many phones that have already debuted this year and are due to be, Google’s Pixel 4 is causing quite a stir. Ranked among the most anticipated phones for the year of 2019, this predecessor of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL promises to offer features that may match the capabilities of the iPhone 11. Senior Forbes magazine contributor David Phelan, in an article posted prior to the release of the new iPhone 11, stated that if modifications introduced by Apple were uninspired and, Google managed to improve their tech significantly, either device could reign superior. According to Phelan, the price advantage would likely belong to the new Google Pixel 4 in comparison to the iPhone 11 and its versions.
Apart from comparisons with Apple hardware, tech enthusiasts and phone users have been trying to find out how Google’s Pixel 4 fares against the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10.
The Google and Samsung Comparison
Among phone companies, Samsung dominates the market holding 22.7% of total shares so far this year, according to statistics. Samsung is an old and seasoned player as far as the mobile phone industry and phone manufacturers are concerned. It has managed to consistently offer impressive features to users at prices that have always been a lot more affordable than those charged for Apple models released in the same year. The most recently released Samsung devices include the Samsung Galaxy 10 and the Samsung Note 10.
Google, on the other hand, is a homegrown company that has long established its position as a software giant. After acquiring the HTC Corp. in a USD 1.1Bn merger last year, Google set its sights on making top-ranking phones once again. It has consistently provided backing software for phones using Android technology. However, the acquisition of HTC resulted in whispers that Google was looking to take its phone manufacturing game to the next level. The Google Pixel 4, due to be released in a few months, might just be monumental in Google’s phone manufacture history.
Down to Devices
As techies, one thing that interests us is finding out whose technology is the most cutting edge. Another thing that concerns many of us is value. What are we getting for the money we’re putting down? One thing that always helps us get a sense of what we’re getting into is comparing devices. Both the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 have already been released. Though Google Pixel 4 hasn’t yet been debuted, we’ve managed to gather some information between statements made by company spokespersons and other industry rumors!
Before we tell you exactly how Google Pixel 4 Beats Galaxy S10, we’re going to share some information about the devices we’re comparing.
Samsung Devices: Vital Specifics
The Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 are both very similar devices with slight variation with regard to specs. Here are some of the specifications that are similar in both:
- Mali-G76 MP12 graphics card
- Tripe rear camera lenses at 12,12, and 16 MP respectively
- 8GB RAM
- Light, Proximity, and fingerprint sensors
- Accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope built-in
- 4K by 3K image resolution
There are also other specifications that vary in the two Samsung devices. These include a difference in screen size, battery capacity, pixel density, and screen resolution. Another difference is the processor. Where the S10 uses a Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 9820 processor, the Note 10 uses a Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 9825. Overall, these devices have been praised for being efficient and offering brilliant quality display as well as a functional camera system.
Google Pixel 4: What We Know
Between company statements and information heard here and there, here’s what we’re pretty sure we can say about the soon to be released Google Pixel 4. The new Google Pixel is meant to have a 5.7inch display, front cameras of 8 and 5 MP and rear cameras of 12, 16 and 5 MP and a 2800mAh battery. It also comes with 6GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and an Andreno 640 graphics card.
None of this, however, is how Google’s Pixel 4 beats galaxy S-10 or Note 10.
The Feature That Kicks
An article published on XDA Developers by the publication’s Editor-in-Chief elaborates on how he came across certain hidden features while digging through coding which was meant for the new Android 10. One of the things that exist within the coding is an option which allows users to switch over to a 90Hz display mode. It also states that this option is designed exclusively for what is referred to here as the P19. Now we know the P19 likely means the Pixel 2019 model or the Pixel 4! If that is the case, a 90Hz display is a far cry from Samsung’s 60Hz.
For those of you who may be unclear on what the big deal is, allow us to make things simple. A higher frequency on display means better and more efficient graphic abilities. The most significant benefit of this will be to those playing games on their devices, but the con is a 90Hz display which could quickly drain the battery. However, knowing Google, they probably have that one figured out and addressed already.
In Conclusion
As we said earlier, the mobile phone industry has been abuzz this year with all kinds of interesting and advanced tech flooding the market. Though models like the Samsung S10 Plus and S10 5G have been doing pretty well in the market, we feel Google might just be raking a fresh generation of Pixel users. With Samsung devices already out there and Apple close behind with its launch of the iPhone 11 line, only time will tell how Google performs in this vastly competitive market. Stay tuned for more updates on what’s new and trending in the world of hardware, software, and tech.
